Works way better than pan boiling the eggs because the shells peel so much easier and there is little wasting of the white in peeling. Peel quickly after 5 mins in ice water. No longer dread peeling eggs from our chickens. A damp paper towel with vinegar wipes it like New and I do this when I have unplugged it and it's almost cool. Wish it shut off on its own as you must unplug it when the alarm goes off or else it keeps cooking.. Great buy for your money. Unique and practical wedding gift idea too!

This thing is inexpensive and it works for hard boiling eggs. I did poached in it, and they were ok, but I basically bought it to hard boil, so that is why I gave it 5 stars.

It's great, it cooks eggs to perfection in about 7-10 minutes, aand buzzes once it is done and used all the water for steaming the eggs.

I hate it when I boil eggs and they come out harder or softer than I wanted. I was afraid this product wouldn't work as well as advertised, but it actually works very well. You determine how soft/hard the eggs will be by the amount of water used (directions come with it and there is a measuring cup with lines to guide you). I also like poached eggs and this does poached eggs really well. Definitely worth the money!

Best invention since sliced bread. Makes perfect eggs hard, soft, or poached. Even my 8 year old uses it. This product was recommended by my sister and my only complaint is that she didn't tell me about it sooner.

Bought this for my son who health conscious and eats boiled eggs every morning. I was tired of heat in our kitchen every morning from the kitchen stove. This was the perfect solution. 10 minutes the eggs are done and no heat in the kitchen. I am going to buy some more for gifts.

We bought this cooker to cook hard boiled eggs so this review is based on that alone. We love how easy it is to peel the cooked eggs...very easily under running water, much easier than usual. The reason we give it 5 stars is that it cooks hard cooked eggs right and that they are easy to peel. That was the main reason I bought it was to find a way to peel the eggs easier and this works. When they get done, there is a space between the top of the egg but that is nothing to us.. If you want to use them for deviled eggs, keep that in mind, that there is a space at the top that will make them look a little different. We use so many hard cooked eggs that this didn't matter to us. I do wish the timer buzzer would shut off on it's own. You have to unplug it to stop the buzzer so it you are not home or unavailable, the buzzer just keeps going and it is LOUD!!!! Other than that, we highly recommend this product...but only for hard cooked eggs as we haven't used it for other stages of...

We have the normal white-base, clear-dome, egg-shaped Egg Genie, unlike another yellow-base Egg Genie seen on a YouTube video. We love our little egg-shaped unit. Our Egg Genie saves us from boiling exploding eggs on the stovetop. The instructions are fool-proof if you follow them correctly. We thoroughly went over the instructions before using the unit and still goofed up by piercing the wrong end of the egg - pierced the wide end instead of the narrow end yet they still cooked fine! The machine is designed to put the wider end of the eggs down rather than pointed end down so that the eggs don't touch the heating element below and burn. We followed the suggestion to use distilled water. A gallon jug will last for months because so little water is needed to cook with and distilled water leaves less mineral deposit to clean up off the burner element. After cooking is done, the monotone buzzer will sound constantly for about a minute and a half. Ours...

It only took a few tries to get the eggs just the way we like them. My wife likes the eggs steamed to a 5 on the top scale, I like a 5 on the medium scale. I am embarrassed to say it, but our dogs like theirs at a 6 on the medium scale. The package contains the steamer base, the 7-egg holder and the cover which you would use for cooking an egg in a shell. Additionally, there is the four-egg poacher, and finally the steamer plate (we have not used this). The process is very simple and just takes a bit of experimenting. Measure water to one of the graduated lines on the measuring cup, put the egg base on, take up to seven eggs from the refrigerator, puncture them with the needle in the egg-plate then place them hole side up, install the cover, plug it in and wait for the buzzing noise when they are done. Sounds like a lot of work, but I can accomplish all those steps for four eggs in less than 30 seconds. When the buzzer sounds, very quickly get the...

I love soft boiled eggs and my family loves hard boiled eggs. Making hard boiled eggs by boiling them in water in a pot is not an issue except that they sometimes crack but I was rarely making soft boiled eggs because it's a pain to get them right. The Egg Genie changed all that - boiling eggs of any consistency is easy and mostly successful. If you follow the directions and use the right amount of water, the eggs are perfect each time. One exception is soft boiling eggs after hard boiling eggs without allowing the unit to cool down. This tends to produce under-cooked soft boiled eggs but this is understandable and I learned my lesson after the first time. I would have given the Egg Genie 5 stars if not for the following. First, the base of the pin to pierce the eggs is too wide. It's almost impossible to make a tiny enough hole as when you press the egg on the pin it tends to travel all the way to the base of the pin. This produces a hole that's too big and results in egg white...

I have had my egg genie for years and it holds up well to the test of time. Works just as well now as the day i purchased it. My wife heckled me for months about it, until i had her use it more and more, and in short order she soon began to appreciate it as i had. There is no timer to wind, nothing to guess on, the measurements you have to fine tune to your liking, but the only thing you measure is how much water you add. Just plug it in and it does the rest. Only drawback is it can only cook 7 at a time, but that has been more than enough for any single use scenario i have come up with. I just really enjoy eating hard boiled eggs, so i normally make 2 batches in a row. That is why i list it as a con, because if i had my way it would make 25+. With that being said, its only a con because i felt it needed to have a con, i still rate it 5.5/5 stars!

The product was great once I figured it out. You can't go by the directions for measurements. I only wanted this for hard boil eggs, I boiled 7 and went by directions, when it was done, the egg wasn't fully cooked, but not runny. The next time I put 7 eggs in and filled water line to 5 for hard boil and they came out PERFECT! Was very happy with this product. So much easier, you don't have to wait for the water to boil or time the eggs. When you plug it in it starts and when its done a buzzer will go off continually until you unplug it.

This saved my life! I used to boil an egg for hours it seems and it still came out raw. I would try and peel it and lose half the egg. I would crumble to the floor and cry. I wanted to jump off a bridge! My dogs would leave the room and my children would cower in the corner, but NO MORE! Perfect eggs everytime! Thanks Egg Genie!!

For years I would buy new small pots just to cook hard boiled eggs in as it is part of my daily breakfast. Then I bought the Egg Genie. Life changer!!!!! Twice i almost burned down my house falling asleep while waiting for the eggs to be done in a pot, with the egg genie, it has a buzzer so you wont be sleeping when it goes off. Cooks the egg perfectly.

Our hens lay from Bantam to Jumbo eggs and this Egg Genie cooks all sizes. Since the poaching slots don't hold very large eggs, we use them for the small Banty eggs -- perfect poached on medium - recommend coating tray with oil spray in slots before cracking egg into them. For the XL to Jumbo eggs we fit 5 to 6 eggs for hard boiled and they come out perfect (can't fit a full 7 Jumbo eggs but Large and XL can usually fit to capacity). Trick to peeling (besides not cooking very freshly laid eggs) is instant immersion in very cold to icy water which also keeps the green stain from forming around the HB yolks. We never used the soft boiled feature since we personally don't like that form of cooked egg. We didn't poke holes in the correct end of the eggs the first time we used the Egg Genie and egg white dribbled out during cooking. We strongly recommend a good read of the manual instructions before using and you can't go wrong (where to poke holes, using distilled water, cleaning with vinegar, etc). We no longer have cracked leaking hard boiled eggs in hot water on the stovetop any more! What a treat making deviled eggs for breakfast now.
