This does exactly what it says it will do-When you pour water in, it 'suctions' the water out. It does not 'filter' the water, etc. as there is no filter. It is simple physics in play in real life. If you have a lot of 'gunk' settled on the stones, etc. I recommend using something to roll around the stones to allow it to settle to the bottome below the grate. This allows the most cleaning for your fish! Great product for young children. Children get to enjoy having a fish, and parents get to enjoy the easy maintainance. Win-Win situation!

Product is good as far as size and the concept of self cleaning. The only fish you can have in this tank is a Beta fish. All other fish would need a bigger tank. You still will need to clean the walls of the tank and the rocks. My BIGGEST complaint is the LED light. It lasted only two days and then burnt out. I contacted the company a week ago and no response. Poor quality light, but the rest of the product seems good so far.

This is really a cute fish tank, however, the light only worked for a day. I contacted the company in its regards but I have not heard back from them and it's been two weeks now.

0.5 gallons can house a betta, but not much else. You will still have to wipe algae off of the walls of the aquarium if it is in a well-lit room. Do not use any soap or cleaning products! They leave a residue that will kill the fish. Not really large enough to be practical for fish-keeping beyond a betta, and that only because they have a labyrinth gill.

light burnt out after 14-16 hours, wished it was a better quality light. This is the only issue we have had with this product.
